Michigan Lawmakers Are Finally Making Some Sense And Letting Their Citizens Buy A Taser

As of right now it is still illegal to buy, sell, own or carry a Taser in the state of Michigan but that looks to be changing if a new bill is passed. This new bill would allow citizens of Michigan to legally purchase and carry a Taser, provided they have a Concealed Pistol License (CPL). This would be a wonderful adjustment to the state’s laws and one that would allow citizens to defend themselves in a humane, non-lethal way not afforded them by handguns.
What I find so crazy is that it took until the year 2012 to get around to introducing this bill. When you consider the fact that it is legal in Michigan (with the proper license) to carry a concealed firearm, that works by blasting a hole in an attacker, yet it is still illegal in this same state to stop that same attacker in a much more humane fashion that won’t kill or even seriously injure the attacker. If you could explain to me how that makes any sense please leave a comment in the comments section below because to me this seems utterly ludicrous.
Most states have no such laws banning the use of Tasers and others have restrictions such as the need to have a firearms license in order to carry a Taser. Yet there are still a few states that prohibit the use of any stun device, like New York, New Jersey, Hawaii, Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Again, in these it is possible to relatively easily secure a license to carry a firearm but not a stun device. Just to clarify a firearm discharges a bullet that is intended to leave a gaping hole in someone that could very easily kill or at the very least injure the person whereas a stun device subdues the same person without leaving the person dead or so much as injured in almost all cases.
Tasers, like any stun device, does not work on the principle of pain but by disrupting an attacker’s normal neurological pathways by delivering a high voltage, low amperage shock. They are so effective because an attacker cannot ‘attack through the pain’ as may be the case with a defensive spray like mace. Yet as effective as these Taser devices are they do not leave any lasting effects after the first few minutes. They simply allow the user a way to effectively defend themselves without having to kill another human being.
So kudos to the state legislators in Michigan and here is to hoping that they realize how absurd the current laws are regarding Tasers and that this bill allowing its citizens to defend themselves with a Taser becomes law.

Tasers Have Been Wrongfully Vilified

In 2009 a gentleman by the name of Jack Cover passed away and very few people will ever recognize that name. It’s a shame really because Cover’s invention, one he invented in 1974, has saved more lives than we may ever know. His invention was the Taser gun and the very intention of the Taser gun is to save lives, plain and simple. It was invented to give police an alternative to firearms as an effective means of self-defense. Unfortunately for Mr. Cover his invention is often looked at in a negative light.

I would say at least half the YouTube videos that feature a Taser and police in any way are featuring it with the intention of showing it as an example of the police in the video using excessive force. Of those I would say that a very small portion are anything even close to resembling excessive force. I won’t say all though and I understand that there are just some meat-head police officers that do use excessive force and it’s unfortunate. Although it does kind of highlight my point that Tasers shouldn’t be so quickly vilified. If I’m going to have a police officer use excessive force on me with a weapon I can think of a lot worse weapon to be attacked with than a Taser like a .357 for example. My preference would to be attacked by neither but you understand my point. Tasers save lives when it’s the alternative to a weapon like a firearm that leaves a gaping hole in a human that needs to be closed by a doctor or the human will die.

Tasers have killed people but the percentage is unbelievably small, much smaller than any weapon on Earth, including guns, knives, swords, bats, chairs and possibly fists when it comes to anything that has ever been used as a weapon. Any item of self-defense that is even the least bit effective is obviously going to come with some inherent level of danger. The weapon would be useless and ineffective if it didn’t at least have the potential to harm, especially if used inappropriately or incorrectly.

At the end of the day though Tasers were designed by Mr. Cover to allow police to defend themselves and/or subdue an unruly and dangerous perpetrator without having to take that individual's life or severely injure them with a firearm. So before we condemn an instrument of non-lethal self-defense like the Taser let us consider what it was designed to be an alternative to, the firearm.

Occupy Wall Street Has Led To Yet Another Incident That Has Given Tasers A Bad Name

Poor Tasers. Once again another incident has occurred that has caused great harm to a wonderful product and once again Tasers have been unjustly vilified. Yet again tasers are being looked at as an evil torturous weapon, yielded by crooked, blood-thirsty cops against meek and innocent do-gooders who did not deserve such harsh and foul treatment. What a crock of (expletive deleted). It’s a shame really because Tasers, manufactured by Taser International, were designed to be a non-lethal alternative to firearms. Let’s think about that for a second. It seems anytime a Taser is used we hear cries about how it was used unfairly but the simple fact of the matter is that I’d rather be tased than shot (or stabbed, beaten, clubbed, etc…) any day of the week. Tasers don’t leave people dead or even with any lasting injuries, Tasers simply incapacitate. They have given law enforcement and private citizens a way to protect themselves and others without having to kill another human being. Instead of vilifying Tasers we should be praising them.
Okay, the Occupy Wallstreet incident I am referring to is the latest one from Washington D.C. where a gentleman in his pajamas is tased. The video can be found on YouTube and after viewing the video I was astonished at reading some of the posts by the ignoramuses of the world trying to suggest that this was somehow an abuse of power buy the police who tased this pajama clad idiot. Listen, you can clearly hear the guy saying “I’ve done nothing wrong” and perhaps that is true but you know what you should do when multiple officers of the law are telling you to stop and cooperate even if you haven’t done anything? You stop and cooperate. If you are being unfairly punished then talk to a lawyer and go after those crooked cops in a legal and sane fashion. This protestor is screaming about how he’s done nothing wrong as he’s trying to run from cops and flailing his arms and legs to avoid them restraining him. That’s called resisting arrest and the lady officer trying to subdue him is half his size. If a 120 pound female officer is trying to get a 200 pound man to stop struggling and play nice and he won’t listen that officer has every right, if not the obligation to those around her to tase that moron. Saying anything to the contrary is just nonsense in my opinion. Should she use a gun next time, how about her fists or maybe a night stick? Think about it logically. If the guy is really innocent and hadn’t done anything he has just hurt his chances at a countersuit against the officer by resisting arrest like the moron that he is.
Tasers have absolutely, emphatically, unquestionably saved many lives since their introduction but they always receive a bad rap and it is something that just really irks me. If a law enforcement officer or private citizen abuses the power Tasers yield and wrongfully tases someone then they should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law but this was yet another case where that was not the case.

Who Should Buy Tasers?

When considering a non-lethal self-defense device many people will automatically think of Tasers as they are a very popular item used by law enforcement and private citizens alike. The reason they are so popular is because they can be every bit as effective, if not more so, than a firearm and are certainly the most effective non-lethal device available today. However, this level of effectiveness comes with an inherent level of danger and the purchasing of such a device is one that should be weighed carefully and in some parts of the country isn’t even an option as they have been deemed illegal. When studies show a device being more effective than a 9mm handgun, as some police studies have shown, you can bet that we are talking about a device that is not suitable for just anyone. So who should buy a Taser?, that is what I would like to discuss.

I firmly believe that every law-abiding citizen should have the right, if not the responsibility to one’s self and family, to be protected at all times by carrying some tool of self-defense. I also firmly believe that this tool should not be a firearm as that would make the world a far more dangerous place than it is already. There are several options when discussing non-lethal self-defense weapons and varying degrees of effectiveness and danger with each option. Pepper spray, for example, can be very effective and is much less dangerous, in my opinion, than a Taser but it is also not nearly as effective. Some assailants can fight through the pain of being sprayed with pepper spray but almost nobody can fight through the incapacitating effects of a Taser and this is why Tasers can be more effective than a 9mm handgun. Tasers do not rely on causing pain to the attacker; they simply take away an attacker’s ability to control their own bodies by disrupting the natural neurological pathways using electricity.

Tasers are sold as’ non-lethal’ devices and well over 99% of the time they are used they are just that, non-lethal. However, unfortunate events do happen and a relatively small number of fatalities have resulted from the use of Taser devices (relative to that of firearms, knives, etc…). So although I do not consider these devices to be all that likely to cause a fatality they are still very dangerous and should only be used by either law enforcement or someone that has both the proper training and a clean criminal record. In most states it is legal to buy and carry a Taser and this concerns me only because I would hate for a Taser to be used for any other reason than to defend an innocent person. So please use careful consideration if you are contemplating buying a Taser device yourself.

Self Defense for Seniors May Be as Easy as Knowing Where to Buy Stun Guns

Senior citizens need to take measures to ensure they are protected on the streets as much, if not more, than anyone. There are many choices when considering how best to defend themselves but I think what works best is for seniors to secure some form of non-lethal self-defense weapon. Pepper spray, mace, Tasers, stun guns, kubotans, etc…, the list goes on and on but are all of these safe, effective or even practical? In the case of stun devices like your traditional stun gun i would say that they are extremely effective in stopping an attack but may not be safe and/or practical for just anyone and I think that senior citizens should use careful judgment before deciding to equip themselves with such a device. Stun guns, although extremely effective do come with an inherent level of danger as a result of that effectiveness.

I would recommend a stun device to almost any law abiding, responsible individual but with a few important caveats. For one, anyone considering carrying such a device should be in relatively good shape and obviously of sound mind. I say good shape because in the event of an actual attack one would need to be able to pull the stun gun out quickly and touch his or her attacker with the device as quickly as possible. I mean no offense here but if someone has been slowed to the point where this action might be hindered by physical limitations than that individual may want to consider alternative means of self-defense. I say sound mind because again if Father Time has taken a great deal of reaction time off of one’s natural reflexes this could prove to be fatal, or at the very least devastating, in the event of an attack. Also a stun gun is something that could be taken away from a stronger, faster attacker and used against its original user. Again, I say these things not to deter someone from using what I feel is one of the best options for self-defense, but to analyze all aspects of such a decision before deciding to proceed with the purchasing of a stun device.

I think one of the best ways to measure your readiness and ability to handle a stun gun is with the ‘Do I drive a car?’ test. The test is pretty self-explanatory and it is simply this, if you are able to drive a ton of steel around at 55 M.P.H. then I think you are capable of safely handling a stun device that weighs about as much as the rear view mirror. Unless of course you are one of those people that should have no right operating a motor vehicle but alas, I will save that for another post.

Your Online Stun Gun Dealer Has Self Defense for Seniors all Figured Out

They say there are only two certainties in this life and those certainties are death and taxes. Aside from these two things the future is uncertain for any and every human being on the planet today. If we could accurately predict the future then we would all be rich I suppose, although knowing exactly what, when, how and why everything is going to happen sounds a trifle boring. The world can be a scary place, especially if were not prepared for what awaits us or what situations we may find ourselves in. I think this holds tru for one group of people in particular and that is senior citizens.

As we age into our elder years we naturally lose our ability to defend ourselves in a physical altercation. Muscle mass lessens, flexibility decreases, bones become more fragile and our reflexes become slower. I am not saying that there are not some bad 80 year old guys(and gals) walking the streets today but that on average we are not as apt to be able to best a younger attacker as we would be in our own youth. And even if we could why would anyone in their right mind want to involve themselves in a physical altercation that doesn’t have to? So to ensure these peoples safety in an uncertain world I would strongly suggest visiting an online stun gun dealer.

Stun guns are extremely effective self-defense weapons. Some studies have shown stun guns to be as effective, if not more effective, than some handguns as a measure of self-defense. Unlike firearms though, the stun gun is considered non-lethal as in almost all cases it proves to be just that, non-lethal. I want to provide self-defense for seniors, not arm the elderly with weapons meant to maim or kill as is the case with a firearm. Stun devices are still dangerous but some danger must be inherent in this effectiveness, otherwise they wouldn’t be very effective would they? Stun guns are by no means a product to be taken lightly and I certainly wouldn’t recommend them for everyone but for a relatively able bodied senior citizen with a spotless criminal record I would definitely feel comfortable recommending a stun device for protection.

Many stun guns are small and compact enough to carry anywhere and at all times, be it in a purse, pocket or handbag. Just please remember to have it on you or it isn’t going to do you much good if such a device is needed. Please be sure to check your states individual laws regarding stun devices as there are restrictions on the carrying and use of stun guns in some areas.

What is the Best Brand of Stun Gun? Stun Master Stun Guns

When you are shopping for a new or used car do you often find yourself asking questions like “What is the worst brand of car I can buy?” or “What car company really makes lemons?” and then basing your decision based upon those questions? Probably not. Most likely you base your purchasing decision based on questions that are very much the opposite of those. You want things like reliability and quality when spending your hard earned money. If you have already decided to purchase a stun gun then you are very likely asking yourself the very same questions you would when making any major purchase. I consider a stun gun a major purchase because a device that could potentially save your life, as is the case with a stun device or any non-lethal self-defense product, is very much a “major” purchase and one that should be carefully decided upon. So, the question is ‘what is the best brand of stun gun’ and the answer to that, in my opinion, is very simple, Stun Master. Stun Master has been a leader in the non-lethal self-defense industry for almost 30 years now and in many ways are like the Godfather of stun devices.

The vast majority of items we purchase every day don’t require much deliberation. Lunch for example is of little consequence, if you try a new restaurant out for the first time and don’t much like the food you just won’t go back and it’s not that big of a deal. A stun device on the other hand needs careful consideration before purchase. If you bargain hunt for a lesser brand and wind up with a device that doesn’t work you could very likely lose your life. That seems to me like ti would be a huge deal. The great thing about Stun Master products is that they are not only the best in the industry but one of the most affordable as well.

When choosing a stun gun I strongly recommended using one that supplies a minimum of 150,000 volts, anything less could compromise its effectiveness. Also, please keep in mind that it is not volts that kill a person, it is amps that make an electrical current deadly. That is what makes stun devices so effective, they produce high voltage yet low amperage currents of electricity. So anything with at least 150,000 volts should do the job in most situations and if you really want to be safe you can purchase stun guns that have over a million volts. I would feel very safe knowing I have that kind of non-lethal power at my fingertips should the need to use them arise.

Is it Appropriate to Buy Stun Guns as a Measure of Self Defense For Seniors?

The title of this blog post raises an interesting question and one that will no doubt lead to a debate about ethics, safety and the legalities involved. So is it appropriate for a senior citizen to buy a stun gun for protection? I am a firm believer that any law-abiding citizen of sound mind should have the right (if not the responsibility) to carry a non-lethal form of self-defense, especially if the person in question is a senior citizen. As we age we naturally lose a bit of our strength, agility and reflex time and as a result our natural ability to defend ourselves in the event of a violent physical assault. As such, our senior citizens deserve the ability to even the playing field with potential attackers by carrying a self-defense device like a stun gun. Carrying a stun gun is an extremely serious matter and very careful consideration should be taken when deciding whether or not a stun gun is right for a particular senior.

I certainly do not feel that buying a stun gun is appropriate for any senior citizen. Certain questions need to be asked before deciding whether or not a stun device is an appropriate measure for any individual of any age. Here, in my opinion are two of the qualifying questions one should ask…

1. Does this senior citizen have a criminal record of any kind? A criminal record of any kind is usually a good sign that this particular senior doesn’t know how to behave appropriately and uses poor judgment. There could be exceptions to this rule but for the most part I would say if one has a criminal record they should not be allowed to carry a stun device of any kind.

2. Is this senior citizen of sound mind and body? The measuring stick i used to use to determine if a senior was of a sound enough mind and body used to rely on whether or not the senior in question was licensed to operate a motor vehicle. However, after almost being struck by 2 seniors that should not have been driving a car I’ve adjusted my measuring stick. I would say use your good judgment here. If the senior leaves the house in the morning and forgot to put on his pants I would say no, this person should not own a stun gun. Again, use good judgment, if a senior lives alone and is fully capable of taken care of themselves on a day to day basis than that individual should be more than capable of carrying and potentially using a stun device.

So the answer to the question “is it appropriate for a senior citizen to carry a stun gun?” is “maybe” but for those that qualify I am in complete support of carrying such a device. Certainly stun guns can be dangerous but there is going to be an inherent level of danger in just about any self-defense weapon otherwise they wouldn’t be very effective. What is so great about a stun device is that it can be every bit as effective as a firearm without having to result in the death of another human being. So please, if you are a senior citizen concerned for your own safety please consider carrying a stun device.

What Are The Best Stun Guns? Stun Master Stun Guns In My Opinion

Here is my take on the purchasing of stun guns and purchasing any item in general. There are items like plastic cutlery, napkins, baking soda and whatnot that don’t require one to purchase a name brand. If you buy generic paper plates they might not be as durable as a Dixie brand paper plate but what is the worst that is going to happen? Maybe you have to double up on plates if you’re trying to eat a sizable meal, not that big of a deal, right?

Some products cannot and should not under any circumstances be purchased with saving a buck and only saving a buck in mind. This certainly applies to non-lethal self-defense products like a stun gun. You do not want to find yourself in a situation where your life is in jeopardy or at the very least you physical well-being and have a stun device that doesn’t work properly. When a product is designed to protect one’s well-being than that product should be of exceptional quality. Stun Master stun guns certainly do, and always have, fit the bill in this regard. Stun Master stun guns have been a leader in the industry for almost 2 decades and one of the greatest things about this brand name self-defense product is that it’s a top-of-the-line brand that is also one of the least expensive. You truly cannot ask for anything more from a stun device. One needs to look no further from a company that has been around this long than the fact that they offer a life-time warranty on their products. A company isn’t going to be around very long if they are slapping life-time warranties on poorly made stun guns.

Stun guns offer the user an immensely effective form of non-lethal self-defense that is non-lethal and much safer than a firearm for example. They work by emitting a high-voltage, low-amperage shock to an assailant. Stun devices help level the playing field for victims that may not otherwise be able to best an assailant should a physical altercation occur. Some fine examples of this would be senior citizens and females that often find themselves walking alone, especially in the evening hours.

So if you are an honest, hard-working, tax paying American that values his or her own safety and the safety of their loved ones and is considering purchasing a stun gun I would hope that Stun Master is a brand that they consider.
