Any Runner Should Learn Where To Buy Stun Guns Or A Keychain Alarm For Protection

Running is great for the mind, body and spirit. Studies show that running can raise your levels of good cholesterol, increase lung capacity, lower your risk of blood clots and boost your immune system. Studies have also shown that running can lower the risk of many types of cancer and the risk of having a stroke. It can help burn fat and lose weight; in fact next to cross country skiing it is the most effective exercise in terms of calories burned per minute. Running can help boost your confidence by helping you attain your physical goals. Running can help regulate sleep patterns and we all know how important sleep can be for your mind, body and overall mood. Running naturally releases endorphins which can lift your mood and help fight stress and all of the nasty health problems often associated with that stress. Running secretes hormones that can help naturally treat depression. In fact it always troubles me to see anti-depression drugs so widely prescribed but rarely with a prescription to get out and try running. Sign up for a 5k sometime and look at the mood of the people milling about before and after the race. I think one thing you’ll find in common is that all of these people probably seem happy.

With all of the benefits of running in mind they mean nothing if you aren’t actually protected when you go out for a run. I myself often run by the lakeshore of Lake Michigan and it’s a beautiful scene with the sun setting over the lake on my one side and the city skyline on my other. I know though that beautiful surroundings do not prevent bad things from happening and certainly do not make me immune to crime. Especially running at night in the 3rd most populated city in America I need to be ever watchful and ready to defend myself at all times. For me this means always carrying on my person a keychain alarm. A keychain alarm is nothing more than a small, handheld alarm that I can activate if I ever get into trouble while running along the trail. It’s extremely loud and extremely effective in deterring an attack as well as drawing the attention of others.

I know a couple of female friends that run with small stun devices and the main difference between a stun device and a keychain alarm is that a stun device will actually physically impair an attacker and might be a good thing for women to carry in their purse or while they are out for a jog as oftentimes their attacker may be a male who is bigger and stronger than they are. Either way a runner, man or woman, should always be prepared to defend themselves in any situation and a keychain alarm or stun gun can certainly help there.

A Senior Citizen Self Defense Course Should Include The Proper Use Of Pepper Spray

I think self defense classes are great for just about anybody. Not only can they help teach you how to protect yourself in the event of an attack but they can also help build confidence, lose weight, and increase your overall mental and physical well-being. Seniors can absolutely benefit from self defense classes in the same way that people of any age can but I think it best that any course on self defense for seniors also include training seniors on the proper use of pepper spray. I don’t think pepper spray training is unique to senior citizens either and any law abiding citizen of any age could benefit from carrying and knowing how to use pepper spray. I just believe that seniors, more than any age group, could perhaps benefit the most from this training.

Seniors can certainly learn to defend themselves using only what they were born with, meaning their hands and feet, but a defensive spray like pepper spray can really be of great help especially if they are attacked by someone much bigger, stronger and faster than they are. Also, pepper spray training is something that can be taught in one class, as opposed to the weeks, months and years it can take to become proficient in any martial arts discipline. Some seniors may also be lacking the strength, speed and agility it takes to effectively execute many of the moves involved in martial arts. A 95 pound, 80-year old female is going to have problems fighting off a 200 pound, 25 year old attacker no matter how long she has been studying martial arts but the size and age difference can be immediately made up for if that 80-year old lady sprays her attacker in the face with pepper spray.

Like I stated earlier, the proper use of pepper spray is something that can be taught in just one class but I think the actual motion of drawing the pepper spray from a pocket or purse, aiming and spraying is something that can be (and should be) practiced in much the same way that one constantly practices a punch, kick or choke hold. When someone actually finds themself in a physical altercation with an attacker the person’s nerves can be rattled greatly and with the adrenaline flowing it is always best if the motions have been practiced to the point where it is second nature even under the most stressful moments.

So if you are a senior citizen, especially one living alone and unassisted, please consider a self defense course but also remember that training with a defensive spray should be part of the curriculum of that course.

Why Colleges Should Hand Out Keychain Alarms To All Students

A college campus should be a lively environment where young students, eager to learn, are prepared for life after college and for their role in plying their trade to make the world a better place to live and more often than not college campuses are just that. However, the reality is that there is no place on Earth that is completely immune to criminal activity and a college campus is certainly no exception. There is certainly no shortage of stories about students being accosted while walking back to their dorms at night. Almost every university I can think of has at least taken the precautionary measure of installing emergency phones about their campus and kudos to them for that. Those emergency phones do have their limitations though and are not always practical. For one, those phones are staggered many yards apart and a helpless female student walking home at night might not be able to reach the closest phone if she is suddenly attacked. There is a very easy solution to this problem however and one that can be easily and affordably remedied by simply distributing keychain alarms to each and every student (female or male). My oldest child just turned 7 and so I don’t yet have to worry about her going off to college and being away from the family but when she does I can assure you she will at the very least have in her possession one of these personal alarms.
Personal alarms like the keychain alarm are great because they are completely safe and can cause absolutely no physical harm whatsoever. That is not to say, however, that they are not effective. On the contrary, keychain alarms can prove to be wildly effective and that is because they are extremely loud, which will draw the attention of anybody up to a quarter mile away, and extremely accessible as they are right in your purse or pocket.
They are the least cost prohibitive of any form of non-lethal self-defense and a simple keychain alarm can be purchased for about the same cost as eating at a fast food restaurant. So there can be no viable argument as to why any college or university would not be able to provide their students with such an alarm due to financial limitations.
I do not know if some colleges have already implemented a similar protocol to the one I am suggesting here but hopefully all of them will in the very near future. Student safety should be the highest priority at any institution of higher learning.

Why Personal Alarms Are Custom Made For Senior Citizen Self-Defense

Seniors have a multitude of choices when it comes to self-defense tools. However, all of these choices come with varying degrees of effectiveness and safety and so careful consideration and diligent research are always very important before making a decision as to which self-defense tool to carry.  In my opinion there is no tool of self-defense more custom made and perfectly suitable for seniors than a simple (yet extremely effective) personal alarm.

Personal alarms are simply a small handheld device, often in the form of a keychain that emits an extremely loud distress signal when a button on the alarm is pressed and when I say loud I mean 130 decibels of ear-splitting, attention directing loud too. That’s certainly loud enough to scare the heck out of some foolish purse snatcher who isn’t expecting much retaliation from a 75 year old lady. Aside from the scare it will put into any attacker, and perhaps more importantly, the alarm will draw the attention of anyone in the area. Attention is exactly the last thing that attacker wants when he or she is attempting to relieve a senior citizen of their wallet, purse, jewelry and potentially their life. Attention gets the cops called and bystanders involved and this will more times than not get the attacker running for the hills as soon as that alarm is pressed.

Personal alarms are also great because they make a wonderful alternative to much more dangerous forms of self-defense for seniors like stun guns, tasers, pepper spray, mace and firearms. All of those weapons I just mentioned are immensely effective in deterring an assault but they are also extremely dangerous and potentially fatal if used improperly. Also, most of those items are illegal in some areas without the proper licensure whereas personal alarms are 100% legal anywhere in the world.

Lastly, personal alarms cost a fraction of most other self-defense items and can be purchased for about the same amount as it costs to eat at a fast food restaurant. In my opinion it makes personal alarms for seniors a great investment and wonderful piece of insurance and peace of mind. So if you are a senior citizen looking for a little added insurance against the bad guys of the world or know a senior citizen that you’d like to help protect against these bad guys please seriously consider arming them with a personal alarm immediately.

The Best Self Defense For Seniors Is The Keychain Alarm

Every day that the sun rises over the eastern horizon it shines upon more senior citizens than it did the day previous. Every night that it settles in the west and night falls upon America that means that there are that many more targets for purse snatching, low-life, morally bankrupt thieves to attack for personal gain. It can be a dangerous world out there and there may be nobody that is truer for then senior citizens living alone. The simple fact of the matter is that as we age we tend to lose a little bit of our natural ability to defend ourselves against attack and those thieves we just talked about know that all too well. There is a very simple, effective, safe, legal and inexpensive way for seniors to defend themselves though and that is with a simple keychain alarm.
Obviously senior citizens have a multitude of choices when it comes to self-defense products. There are stun devices, tasers, pepper spray, mace, batons, firearms, knives, martial arts training and the list goes on and on. Every single one of those alternatives I just mentioned cost more than a keychain alarm, are far more dangerous than a keychain alarm and most require at least some basic training in order to use the device to its maximum capacity. Personal alarms take absolutely no special training whatsoever, cost about the same as a meal at McDonalds and are still extremely effective in deterring criminals.
Personal alarms, usually in the form of a keychain work by emitting an insanely loud siren for such a small device. I am talking about 130 decibels loud and that is roughly the decibel equivalent of sitting in the 10th row of a rock concert. So when some bad guy goes to take your purse, and a wailing alarm that can be heard for a quarter mile goes off, I can assure you that the purse snatcher will understand he has just drawn the attention of every single person in the vicinity that isn’t completely deaf. Attention is the last thing a purse snatcher wants and more often than not this should get him running the other way in fear of being caught. The fact that the alarm comes in the form of a keychain makes it almost impossible to forget at home and also very convenient for everyday use as most also come equipped with a flashlight.
So please don’t hesitate to equip yourself with a simple keychain alarm if you are a senior citizen living alone or to buy one for a senior you know is living alone.

Dear Seniors, Please Don’t Buy Personal Alarms. Signed, The Criminals Of The World

Dear Seniors,
We are writing to you in hopes of reaching some kind of agreement in regards to the personal self-defense craze that has been sweeping the nation, I’m speaking of course about personal alarms. These trusty little alarms have greatly impeded our ability to attack you and rob you of your cash and valuables and we have mouths to feed, namely our own as we care little for others well-being. With their ultra-high decibel alarms they attack a great deal of unwanted attention to the scene and seeing as we are trying to commit a crime we would much rather not have that unwanted attention. Unwanted attention usually brings the police or at the very least other people looking to help and that just doesn’t sit well with us as we are sure you can understand.
You see, we criminals like to take the path of least resistance when finding someone to mug and we just assume that Father time has slowed you all down enough to make it much easier to take your belongings than say a 30 year-olds’.
These little personal alarms, that usually come in the form of a keychain (making them nearly impossible to forget at home), can register decibel levels that are roughly as loud as a rock concert (125-135 dB’s). That’s great for you as it makes the device extremely effective but that noise really gives us criminals a scare and that just doesn’t seem right to us. More often than not, when we hear a noise that loud while we are about to attack you we will probably just turn our cowardly little tails and run in the opposite direction for fear of being seen and ultimately apprehended. If that happens how are we going to take your watch and pawn it?
Also, these trusty little devices are completely safe to carry as they do not operate by incapacitating us like a stun device, Taser or handgun might, so I guess for that we can be somewhat grateful but the end result is still us either getting arrested or at least leaving the scene empty-handed and that makes it very difficult for us to buy the drugs we are probably addicted to.
I hate to even throw this out there but these personal alarms almost always come with a little flashlight as well and that makes them a very handy tool when trying to unlock a door at night. So even if we never get around to trying to take your wallet or purse there is still great use for these alarms even if you never have to be in the unfortunate situation of using the alarm against us.
So in closing I would just like to say please do not purchase one of these alarms as it makes it extremely difficult to mug you.

Thanks,
Criminals Of The World

Personal Alarms Make The Perfect Self Defense For Seniors

The number of senior citizens and the Earth’s population in general, is growing with each new day and as an unfortunate result so is the number of “easy targets” for scumbag criminals the world over. You see the criminal mind, although void of good intentions, is often smart enough to understand that the path of least resistance is the way to go when looking to profit from criminal activities. So when you’re common, petty, purse-snatching, criminal is on the prowl and looking for an easy target he is much more apt to choose a senior citizen than say a 30 year old and the reasons for this should be obvious. The criminal will assume, unfairly or not, that the senior citizen will be much less apt at defending themselves than will the 30 year old, this is exactly why every single senior citizen should carry some instrument of self-defense.

Today senior citizens have a multitude of options when it comes to picking an instrument of self-defense. Obviously, any choice should be legal but just as importantly any choice we make should also be safe. Furthermore, I think any self-defense choice we make should be a non-lethal one as everyone deserves to be treated humanely, even scumbag criminals. Non-lethal in no way implies ‘ineffective’ as many weapons of non-lethal self defense can be every bit as effective as a handgun. Amongst these non-lethal self-defense products you have stun devices, defensive sprays and my personal favorite for senior citizens, personal alarms. Stun devices and defensive sprays can be extremely effective but there is an inherent danger in that effectiveness that I think makes them dangerous, if not counterproductive, for some. I would strongly suggest either a stun device or pepper spray for an able bodied, relatively strong senior but for those seniors who are not as strong and fast these weapons could be potentially taken by the assailant and used against the senior. For this reason I think a personal alarm is really the best call as a personal alarm does not work by causing pain or incapacitation to work, as would be the case with either a stun device or defensive spray.

Personal alarms work by emitting an extremely loud distress signal that can be audible up to half a mile away. What this does is draw the attention of anyone in the area and more importantly scares the heck out of the assailant as he or she knows full well that everyone in the area has heard this distress signal and attention has been drawn. Many of these alarms come in the form of keychains which make them not only convenient but also very difficult to forget when leaving the house. So please consider such a device if you are a senior citizen or know one that you would like to protect.

This Christmas Let’s Give Seniors The Gift Of Self Defense With A Personal Alarm

Christmas is perhaps my favorite time of year and what’s not to enjoy about Christmas? We get to spend quality time with friends and family, enjoy home cooked meals and exchange heartfelt gifts with one another. The only problem I see with gift giving is that often times we exchange gifts that end up going right back to the store to be returned either because it was the wrong size or the person receiving the gift just wasn’t into whatever the gift was. I mean that is the whole reason we are so often asked if we would like a gift receipt by the person working the register. That is why this Christmas I’d like to suggest that we give a gift to any senior citizens on our list that they will not only want and appreciate but can actually use and that gift is a personal alarm. What better way to show your appreciation for someone special in your life than to give them a gift that could very well save their life one day?

Personal alarms are one of those items that I think just about anyone should own but I really think make ideal tools of self defense for seniors as they require no special training, can be extremely effective in deterring an assault and are completely and utterly safe. Seniors are also at a higher risk of assault than their younger counterparts and that is not only because they may be physically less apt at defending themselves but because criminals know they may be less apt at physically defending themselves. They work by simply emitting an extremely high decibel alarm that works to scare off potential attackers. Many of these alarms come in the form of a keychain which makes them virtually impossible to forget at home and also makes it readily and quickly available in the event of an attack.

Also, it is not just giving the gift of a personal alarm but so much more that you will be giving this holiday season. It is the gift of security, or at the very least the feeling of security that you can be giving to a loved one. Fortunately we live in a rather civilized world (I understand that that comment is open for debate) and the chances that such an alarm would ever have to be used is rather slim but just knowing it is there can offer a very fulfilling feeling for some.

So please consider giving the gift of self defense to any senior citizens on your list this holiday season.

Self Defense For Seniors Is As Easy As Buying A Personal Alarm

My passion has always been, and will always remain to be, helping people defend and protect themselves and their families via non-lethal self-defense products. Of all the people that need protection, which is each and every one of us if you really think about it, senior citizens are the people I most often consider. Seniors are often targeted because criminals assume that the average senior citizen will be less apt at defending themselves than the average 25 year old for example. Whether or not this is a fair assumption is not so much the point as is the fact that seniors need to carry some form of self defense as they are in fact a more highly targeted group of people when it comes to petty crime.

One of the best way for a senior citizen to defend themselves against potential attack is to carry a personal alarm at all times. Personal alarms are ideal for senior citizens because unlike stun guns, tasers and defensive sprays, they are entirely safe. Personal alarms are an instrument of self defense that uses no projectiles, electrical charge or harmful spray yet can be every bit as effective as any weapon of self-defense. They simply use a very loud noise (130 decibels or more in most cases) to scare away potential attackers and alert anyone in the area that help may be needed. Most criminals are not looking to be caught and that is why such a loud noise will serve to scare an attacker as he or she will know that the attention of anyone in the area is being directed towards them. Another reason I feel these little alarms are so perfect for seniors is because they take no special training whatsoever as would be the case with a firearm, taser or just about anything that uses a projectile. I would suggest however that anyone carrying a personal alarm practice removing it from wherever you are carrying it (purse, pocket, etc…) and activating the alarm as quickly as possible so that in the event of a real attack the motion becomes automatic. Personal alarms are very small which makes them extremely easy to carry along in a purse or pocket. Many even come in the form of a keychain, making them virtually impossible to forget when a senior citizen leaves the house.

So if you are a senior citizen yourself or are looking for that perfect, inexpensive gift idea for any senior citizens you may know, please keep personal alarms in mind as they really are the perfect item of self-defense for seniors.

If You Are A Senior And Want To Defend Yourself Try A Personal Keychain Alarm

I continue to be astonished that there are senior citizens walking around without any measure of self defense whatsoever aside from just assuming that they will never be attacked. Hopefully that is true and statistically speaking the chances are in the average senior citizen’s favor that they won’t be involved in a physical altercation but that doesn’t mean one should not take extremely easy and affordable measures to ensure their safety should such an attack take place. By far the easiest, safest, most humane and cost-effective measure that any senior can take to ensure his or her own safety is by purchasing a personal alarm of some kind. Most of these personal alarms come in the form of a very small keychain alarm.

So how do these keychain alarms work and are they in fact effective in thwarting an attack at all? They work by emitting an extremely loud audible alarm that can be heard up to, and in some cases more than, a quarter mile away. That should answer the second part of that question with a resounding yes; they are effective in thwarting a potential attack. The premise with which these devices work upon is a very simple one and that is the notion that criminals and other would-be attackers do not want to be caught breaking the law. As such there is no criminal or would-be attacker that is going to want any attention drawn their way after they begin attacking someone and there isn’t anything that is going to draw the attention of others more than a really loud noise. So once a senior citizen finds themselves in a precarious situation involving another individual that is ready to attack them they would simply push a button and an ear splitting alarm emits. That ear splitting alarm is going to draw loads of attention at any time of night or day and that attention is what is going to scare the assailant away. Even if the alarm doesn’t scare the attacker away it will at the very least draw the attention of people that can help. All of this gives the senior a far greater chance of surviving such an attack unscathed then would be the case if the senior had no personal alarm.

Okay, if you are a senior and are still not convinced that carrying one of these keychain alarms is the best thing to do then let me add that most of these keychain alarms come with a built in flashlight. How could having a flashlight on your keychain not be helpful and if that’s what you need to hear to help you understand that one of these devices is absolutely imperative than I hope I’ve done my job.

Practical Self Defense for Seniors Should Be Less About Karate and More About Personal Alarms

I don’t know if it is due to the rising popularity of mixed martial arts, the growing senior citizen population or a culmination of several things but for whatever reason I see more and more self-defense classes advertised and many of these classes are geared towards seniors. I think it is great if people want to take self-defense classes as such classes include several benefits for the participant. Confidence, better health, and a better ability to defend one’s self in the event of an attack being the most obvious benefits. But are these classes, especially those geared towards seniors, going to be enough to really save a senior citizen in the event of a real life attack? Are such classes really practical for seniors?

Again, I want to make it clear that I think a self-defense class is a great idea for people of any age but when it comes to people of an advanced age we should look a little deeper than a self defense class when considering means of self-defense. How much can be taught to an 80 year old woman in a self defense class that is really going to translate to that woman really being able to defend herself against a 6’2″ 230 pound attacker? Nothing. Even if that woman began training in her teens and was a multiple degree black belt by the time she was 80 she is going to have a rough go of things against a much younger, faster, bigger and stronger attacker. That is why although these seniors could certainly benefit from such classes they should by no means let what is taught in these classes be their only line of defense against potential attack. So what can these senior citizens do to help improve their chances of surviving such an attack in a more practical and potentially more effective way? The answer to that question is simple, personal alarms.

Personal alarms are great for senior citizens for a few reasons. One, they are very small, light, and easy-to-carry making them ideal for people of an advanced age. Two, they are easy to use and require zero special training. And last but not least they are entirely safe for all parties involved unlike other more traditional forms of self defense like stun guns, pepper spray or firearms.

Just how effective can an instrument be that doesn’t physically subdue an attacker? Extremely effective is the answer to that question and let me explain why this is. A personal alarm works by simply letting out a distress call that can be heard for up to a mile away in some cases. The majority of personal alarms that I’ve come in contact with register around 115-135 decibels and let me tell you just how loud 130 decibels is, for comparison a rock concert from the 10th row registers about 125 decibels. So if some dirt-bag attacker is in the mood to mug an old lady for her purse and from that purse the old lady pulls out a personal alarm and lets out a 130 decibel siren? I can tell you right now that there is a very good chance that attacker knows the jig is up and it’s time for him to start running in some other direction before the long arm of the law shows up. Extremely loud noises attract the attention of others and that is precisely what any criminal does not want.

So please feel free to take self-defense classes as I think they can only improve your chances of surviving an attack but don’t let the martial arts you learn be your only line of defense and certainly don’t let that be the case if you are a senior citizen.

A Senior Without a Keychain Personal Alarm Makes Absolutely No Sense

Some things just do not make sense to me in this world. I have questions that I fear will forever go unanswered as there is just no making sense of some things. Why do we park in our driveway and drive on a parkway? If 7-Eleven is open 24 hours a day then why do they have locks on the doors? Why is abbreviation such a long word? Why do people ‘call it sleeping like a baby’? I have had 3 babies and none of them slept worth a damn. All of these things and anything to do with quantum physics and/or women make zero sense to me. But the thing that makes the least sense of all to me in this world is the thought of a senior citizen going about his or her daily life without a personal alarm. That last one just baffles my mind completely. The reason that the thought of a senior without a personal alarm makes so little sense to me is that it costs almost nothing to secure such a device as a keychain alarm, carrying it could not get an easier and they are 100% safe yet extremely effective in preventing an attack.

The only senior citizens that could not benefit from the use of a personal keychain alarm of some type would be senior citizens that are bulletproof and/or superheroes impervious to damage of any kind. If you are one of these types or don’t know a senior that is not one of these types than you can stop reading now because this article will be of no benefit to you Mr. bulletproof superhero. The rest of us need to consider protecting ourselves and our loved ones from the bad people of the world. The world can be a dangerous place and there are people out there that will look for easy prey in order to benefit themselves. Often times a senior citizen who has been somewhat slowed by age can and will be considered “easy prey” for some bad folks.

The personal alarms that I’ve seen all work on the same premise and that is by helping one prevent an attack by emitting an extremely loud distress signal when a button on the device is pressed. Most of these personal alarms for seniors fall in the 115-130 decibel range and let me tell you, that is more than loud enough to strike fear in the heart of a potential attacker. The fear I am referring to is the fear of apprehension and any criminal that wants to continue to be a criminal is going to resist being apprehended under any circumstance. So when they hear that alarm go off they will know that the attention of anybody within a ear shot has just been turned toward them and their evil deeds. So please secure a personal alarm for any senior whom you want to keep safe.

Seniors Don’t Need Karate For Self Defense They Need To Buy Personal Alarms

Self defense may be the most god given, naturally instinctual right ever bestowed upon us. The defense of one’s own self should be of utmost importance to every man, woman and child alive today. After all, as the old saying goes, we cannot learn to love others if we do not first learn to love ourselves. In my opinion there is no more important group of people that need to concern themselves with self defense than senior citizens. Self defense for seniors is ever so important because seniors, like younger children, may not be as fast and strong as a potential attacker but unlike children are often alone when such an attack may occur. For this reason seniors need to carry with them something that will help stop an attacker. Sure senior citizens could legally carry a firearm for protection in some areas of the country but firearms have a bad habit of stopping people from breathing. I suggest something that is still effective but immensely more humane and practical. Something that won’t endanger the senior citizen using it would be best; I can’t think of an item that better fits this description than a personal alarm.

Personal alarms are custom made for seniors for a multitude of reasons but first and foremost they require no effort to carry and need absolutely no special training to use. Many personal alarms come in the form of keychains so as to make it impossible to forget the alarm when leaving the house. And above all these personal alarms work by making a wailing noise so ungodly loud that it alerts any and every one in shouting distance that something is amiss. They do not shoot a projectile as a firearm or Taser might, they do not use electricity or cause pain to the attacker in any way shape or form. This is what makes them so utterly safe to carry yet very effective in stopping an attack.

My heartfelt and sincere hope is that nobody would ever have to actually use any tool of non-lethal self defense and fortunately the chances are that most people will never have to but the peace of mind that can come from carrying one makes it entirely worth the few dollars that most of these devices cost. And what’s more, many of these personal alarms come equipped with flashlights so as to make them useful even if they never perform the job they were built to do which is stop an attacker. Sometimes you just need a flashlight and having one on your keychain or in your pocket or purse is always convenient.

How Can Senior Citizens Defend Themselves? Try A Keychain Alarm.

There are some very bad people in this world that have absolutely no problem hurting other people for their own personal gain. This is why every senior citizen, especially those living alone, need to take careful measures to ensure their own safety. Fortunately, one of the most effective measures takes very little effort or money and that measure is securing a personal alarm like the keychain alarm.

A keychain alarm is exactly that, a personal alarm that doubles as a keychain. The reason I suggest these to anyone, particularly seniors, is that a personal alarm will do you no good if you don’t have it on you and it’s very hard to leave the house without remembering your keys. So a keychain alarm is something you’ll be more apt to bring along in spite of any memory loss problems you may be suffering from.

Another nice thing about these keychain alarms is that, although small in size, are very effective tools of non-lethal self-defense. Many models have sirens that register as loud as 130 decibels or more. For comparison sake, an average rock concert registers about 120 decibels from the 10th row so suffice to say these little keychain alarms are plenty loud enough to get the job done. The ‘job’ in this case is preventing an innocent senior from being brutally attacked and robbed. So how does a really loud sound keep a senior from being attacked? Well, for one it confuses and startles the heck out of the attacker. Most attackers are not in the business of being caught and a great way not to get caught doing something illegal is to make sure nobody sees you doing something illegal. A 130 decibel wailing alarm, at any time of day, is going to draw the attention of anyone who isn’t stone deaf and that is going to be a problem for any attacker. Even dumber criminals understand this basic fact and hence the majority will probably turn tail and run as soon as that alarm starts wailing and the ones that don’t will most likely have a sizable audience watching once everyone’s attention is turned to see the source of the wailing siren.

Lastly, these keychain alarms, at least the majority of the ones I’ve seen come equipped with small flashlights and who in the world couldn’t use a flashlight on their keychain. In fact, that flashlight could be considered an extra safety measure (ever tried finding a keyhole in the dark of night? how about with footsteps coming up behind you?)

Need Self Defense for Senior Citizens? Buy Personal Alarms.

Human beings are the most dangerous creature ever to walk the Earth. I am not saying all humans are bad; in fact I like to think that the vast majority of us are caring, thoughtful, non-violent creatures that pose a threat to absolutely no one. However, I am not so naive that I don’t realize the fact that there are those of us out there that truly live without a conscience and have no trouble nor lose no sleep over hurting others for their own personal gain. What really concerns me is that these bad people I speak of are not always entirely unintelligent and because of this they are going to choose targets they feel will give the least resistance. These bad guys (and gals) are going to take advantage of people they consider to be of inferior strength when choosing someone to mug and you know who oftentimes fits that bill? Senior citizens.

Time unfortunately slows us all down and as a result our growing senior population is finding themselves the target of more and more wrong doings. This is something that should concern each and every senior citizen and why every senior should have a means of defending themselves in the unfortunate event of an attack. The options for defending one’s self are relatively vast but the one that makes the most sense for senior citizens, in my opinion, is personal alarms. Personal alarms are ideal for seniors because they are completely safe to use, unlike a firearm, self-defense baton, pepper spray, stun gun or any of the other most popular choices available when discussing self-defense.

A personal alarm does not work by incapacitating an attacker but by hopefully scaring them away with the fear of being apprehended. You see a criminal will not have a very successful criminal career if that criminal is not afraid of being caught and a great way for a criminal to be caught is for people to be watching when he or she commits a crime. And what is a great way to draw people’s attention? How about with a 130 decibel shriek from a personal alarm? That will usually do the trick and when an attacker hears that shriek he or she knows darn well that anybody in the nearby vicinity heard it as well and will be looking his way immediately. I think chances are pretty good that the second a senior citizen sets a personal alarm off that the majority of criminals will turn tail and run from the scene.

So if you are a senior citizen or anyone that wants to add a very effective measure of safety please consider buying a personal alarm.

Stress Reducing Tip 1 – Buy a Personal Keychain Alarm

The world becomes a very stressful place as we get older. I can remember as a child my biggest concerns were where to ride my bike or whether or not I should trade my brother that rookie Roger Clemens Topps card for the rookie Andre Dawson card (I did by the way). That was how stress free my life really was and I didn’t really take the time to appreciate it. 36 years, 1 wife, 3 kids and a mortgage payment later I find myself inundated with varying degrees of stress at all times. I worry about money and about the safety of my family and about providing for them for the long haul. When I have the opportunity to quell some of these stresses in a manner that is both extremely easy and affordable I always jump at that opportunity and I recently just found a way to lessen my stress and concern over the safety of my wife and children, the keychain alarm.

I truly believe that the vast majority of individuals on this planet are decent, good-hearted and well-intentioned. However, there are those out there that just don’t seem to be wired quite right and have an evil streak about them that I’d rather not encounter and that I would certainly rather my family or any loved ones encounter. For this reason i have equipped my wife with a few tools of self-defense and one of those, and possibly one of the most effective, is the keychain alarm. The keychain alarm is exactly that, an alarm so small that it doubles as a keychain. It also has a very bright flashlight built in to the device that comes in very handy when getting into the house or car at night.

The keychain alarms work by emitting an extremely high decibel alarm (130 decibels to be exact) that should confuse and frighten any would-be assailant who isn’t deaf as a post. 130 decibels is roughly equivalent to sitting in the front rows of a Megadeth concert if you need a basis for comparison. Not only should this powerful little alarm frighten the attacker with its noise but it should also attract the attention of every man woman and child in the vicinity and this often helps to get the police called. As long as the assailant isn’t also a complete moron they will know this and that is what frightens them you see.

So please for your sake and the sake of your loved ones please consider cutting your stress levels and equipping anyone you love with a powerful little keychain alarm.

How Can Seniors Defend Themselves? Try Personal Alarms.

I have been asked by many of my older customers whether or not a personal alarm might be of use to them. Although no two people are alike, and hence any two situations will vary, I have put together this brief checklist to help ascertain whether or not a personal alarm would be beneficial to you personally.

1. Are you professional MMA fighter and former multi-sport hall-of-fame athlete Herschel Walker?

2. Are you under the constant surveillance and protection of a personal security team?

3. Do you enjoy having your wallet and other valuables taken from you with violent force?

If you answered ‘no’ to all three of these questions than I would be extremely confident in saying that a personal alarm could be an immensely useful and possibly life-saving device for you to own. If you said yes to any of these questions than I would still be confident in saying that a personal alarm might just be worth picking up in the event one is needed.

Personal alarms truly are a device that I feel every man, woman and child should own as they are the only non-lethal self-defense tool I can think of that is 100% safe and carries zero risk of injury. The same can certainly not be said for firearms, stun guns, mace, pepper spray, knives, chains, bats, etc…, all of those weapons can be wildly effective but they also can be wildly dangerous and can often cause severe injuries and death. Personal alarms emit no deadly projectile, electric charge or dangerous spray, they work solely by emitting an extremely loud siren that works to distract, confuse and frighten a potential assailant.

Now let’s say that your assailant is deaf, stupid or high on drugs or maybe all three, then what? What if the 130 decibel alarm does nothing to deter the assailant? Well as long as everybody living in a quarter mile radius is not deaf, stupid or high on drugs then you are going to have a great deal of attention directed towards you and Mr. assailant, the kind of attention that gets police called. And to be honest I think the vast majority of criminals are smart enough to understand that getting caught is not a good idea if one wants to have any success in their criminal lifestyle and as such I think many (if not all) will run as soon as that alarm goes off. 130 decibels is extremely loud and if one considers that the average rock concert is about 120-125 decibels than you really get a sense of how loud these things can get. So when one is contemplating the ways in which senior citizens (or anyone for that matter) can defend themselves please consider these personal alarms.

Self Defense for Seniors: The Keychain Alarm

The topic of self-defense for senior citizens can get a bit complicated when the discussion turns to self-defense weaponry. In my opinion, senior citizens make ideal candidates for weapons of non-lethal self-defense. Stun guns, tasers, pepper spray and mace are all wonderfully effective, non-lethal items that can help save a life and at the same time not take on in return. However, I can completely understand one’s hesitation in equipping a senior, or anyone for that matter, with such an item. They are after all potentially dangerous weapons and can cause serious harm is misused. I personally carry pepper spray with me at all times and plan on doing so for the rest of my natural born life but I can understand that everyone may not feel as comfortable carrying a similar product. For these people I have a very simple, cost-effective and reliable alternative to stun devices and defensive sprays, and that alternative is the keychain alarm.

The keychain alarm is, as one would probably guess, an alarm in the form of a small handheld device that can double as a keychain. These alarms are great because they can be every bit as effective as a stun gun or mace without even the smallest risk of injury or death should the alarm be used improperly. How can a small keychain alarm possibly be as effective in deterring an attacker as a stun gun or pepper spray you ask? Well, let’s talk about what the intentions of your average criminal are. One, they want to profit illegally and two, they want to do so without being caught. So let us take a real world example and say you are walking down a dimly lit street and here comes Mr. Mugger to help relieve you of your wallet and jewelry. If you had a keychain alarm you would simply activate the alarm and a 130 decibel alarm would start screeching like all heck. I assure you that 130 decibels is sufficiently loud enough to both scare Mr. Mugger and alert everyone in the vicinity that you are in distress. I would be willing to bet that in more cases than not the attacker would simply turn tail and run for fear of being apprehended.

Many of these alarms come equipped with a flashlight built in which can really make for a useful little device that can come in handy regardless of whether or not it is being used as an actual alarm. And my hope is that you would never need the alarm.

Buy Personal Alarms for Seniors Citizens You Dont Hate

Do you know anyone above the age of 55 that you don’t hate? Would you rather any of these senior citizens that you know not be dragged down a dimly lit alley to be beaten and robbed of any cash and valuables? Would you not like to see any of these seniors that you know be taken advantage of or become the victim of a violent physical assault? Would you like to give these seniors an easy and affordable way to protect themselves? Would you like to make sure that the means by which you are helping them protect themselves be entirely, 100 percent safe and legal? If you answered yes to one or more of these questions than I strongly suggest you consider buying that senior citizen a personal alarm.

Personal alarms are ideal for just about anyone that wants to not be mugged but I really think they are useful for seniors as personal alarms are devices that are 100% safe and legal to carry at all times. Many come in the form of a keychain alarm that makes them much harder to forget at home when leaving the house. Personal alarms are wonderful because they offer an alternative, yet still highly effective, alternative to some more potentially dangerous forms of self-defense like handguns, tasers, stun guns, pepper sprays and steel batons. All of the aforementioned products are extremely efficient in stopping an assailant but could potentially lead to serious injuries or possibly even death. Personal alarms carry no such risk as they are not considered a weapon in any way shape or form (unless, I suppose, you throw the personal alarm at somebody). Personal alarms simply work by emitting a frightfully loud alarm which in most cases will do 2 things…

1) Scare the holy hell out of the assailant.

2) Alert everyone within bloody-murder-screaming distance that something bad is happening.

How loud does an alarm have to be to do this? Try 130 decibels (or even louder in some cases!). A very loud rock and roll concert is generally rated at about 120 decibels so imagine if you will a senior citizen walking down the street and some thug asking for their wallet and then a U2 concert starts blaring. Chances are pretty good that the thug is going to exit the area as fast as possible and if by chance the thug is deaf it won’t matter because anyone in the area is going to turn their attention to the scene of the crime in progress.

So please consider buying such an alarm for any seniors you care about.

Gift Ideas For Seniors: The Personal Keychain Alarm

Are you looking for gift ideas for that special someone on your list? Is that special someone by any chance a senior citizen? Does that senior citizen by any chance hate being mugged and beaten unconscious in a dark alley? Do you not want to spend a lot of money on this particular gift? If you answered yes to all of these questions than i think i may know just the right gift for that senior, a keychain alarm. Keychain alarms allow you to give the gift of safety to any senior citizen who is not fond of being jumped by multiple thugs and beaten over the head with a lead pip while another thug removes their jewelry, wallet and anything else of value. Giving a senior citizen a keychain personal alarm tells that senior “I love you and your safety is important to me”.

Keychain personal alarms work on the premise that your attacker is not immensely stupid and/or deaf and that anyone in the surrounding area is also not immensely stupid and/or deaf. The keychain alarm emits an extremely loud 130 decibel alarm that is sure to put a scare in even the fiercest of would-be attackers. It’s not the actual noise itself that will scare the criminal but the idea of being apprehended and sent to jail that will really scare someone. Criminals won’t last very long as criminals if they don’t mind being caught while committing criminal activities and drawing the attention of everybody in shouting distance is a good way to get yourself caught. So if someone finds themselves cornered by some hoodlums on a dimly lit street in the middle of the night and presses the alarm button there is a very high probability that those hoodlums will be turning tail and running.

Let us say however that by some horrible coincidence your attacker is in fact deaf, stupid, high on drugs or all three and isn’t quite as deterred by the 130 decibel alarm as one would expect. Although this situation is far less than ideal it still very likely that everyone in a quarter mile radius is not deaf and will be inclined to look in the direction the alarm is coming from, at which point others will see what is happening and presumably call the police or possibly even assist you themselves.

So next time you have a 65th birthday coming up for Grandma and can’t think of what to buy for a 65 year old, please remember that the gift of life can be as easy as giving the keychain personal alarm. Also please remember that these make great gift ideas not only for seniors but college students, parents, sons, daughters, and anyone else that you know for a fact hate being mugged.
